Nico Paulo‘s new single, “Now or Never” arrives as a stunning introduction to the forthcoming record, fusing deftly strummed guitar with Nico’s glowing vocals that course atop, sounding somewhat reminiscent of the current change in season and turn to fall. 

In an effort to fully understand how things end and why, “Now or Never” looks to unpack what happens when you stay empathetic through heartbreak.

“The lyric “kiss me now or never, hold me close or let me go,” is one of the first lines I wrote and it has stayed relevant to my experiences ever since,” explains Paulo. “This line has haunted me for almost a decade and recent experiences of loss and reconstructing of the self helped me to finally transform it into a song.”

Paulo grew up in Portugal and began her music career in Toronto in 2014. The longing for home, the ocean, and the reality of love have been some of her constant themes appearing both in her visual work as well as inspirations when writing music.

Paulo’s self-titled LP will arrive this Spring and was produced by Joshua Van Tassel & Tim Baker at a cabin in Nova Scotia and at Nico’s home in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
