After almost 5 years of musical dormancy, Nova Scotia treasure Jennah Barry returns with the release of a new single, 'Old Friends.'

'Written around the same time as her 2012 debut LP, Young Men, and recorded during the sessions for her 2020 album Holiday, “Old Friends” is about holding romance and grief at the same time.

"Those emotions can feel so similar," explains Barry. "The song is about how confusing that can be and how staying friends with someone requires you to hold both of those feelings sometimes."

Produced by Colin Nealis (Andy Shauf, Foxwarren, Aidan Knight), and mixed/mastered by John D.S. Adams at Stonehouse Sound, 'Old Friends” is a reminder of Jennah's gentle power and what we've been missing over the last few years. It's not as if she hasn't been busy though. During the pandemic, Barry opened the successful hand pie shop Famous Town in her hometown of Mahone Bay.

Jennah Barry is one of Atlantic Canada’s surest sirens. Her undeniable rosewater voice sets a mood wherein even the hardest truths seem palatable. Moving effortlessly between folk, country and soft rock motifs, Barry’s music sets her at the forefront of a tradition of women making music as strong as it is sentimental.
