We’re pleased to announce that Snailhouse’s Sentimental Gentleman has been making big waves in ‘Best of 2011’ lists from around Canada, USA and over in Europe.
Exclaim! named ‘Sentimental Gentleman’ #5 of the ‘Best Folk & Country Albums of 2011’ alongside some other great artists like Gillian Welch, Dan Romano, Barr Brothers, and Nick Lowe. Here’s what they had to say:
” Few artists can so comfortably marry the musical ideals of classic Americana with wildly inventive and exploratory instrumental manipulation and Feuerstack accomplishes that here with aplomb, creating an album of such melodic strength that it should appeal to anyone who loves great songwriting, regardless of genre.” – Scott A. Gray
Another nice tip of the hat came from Folk Radio UK, who said:
“…this is music to dive into, to empathize with and to think about.”
Montreal blog, Said the Gramophone, included the song “Apple” on their list of the year’s 100 best songs. Grayowl Point and Germany’s Crazewire also listed Sentimental Gentleman among their favourites for 2011.
Look for A Sentimental Companion, an album of demos/alternates, to come in early 2012.
